Staff, students and community members can borrow items from our collection. William Angliss Institute is also a member of the CAVAL Reciprocal Borrowing Scheme. Please familiarise yourself with our borrowing guidelines, for example, renewing and returning items or borrowing from other libraries, by selecting from the menu items.

Renewing your items
All items can be renewed unless they are either
- overdue
- you have reached your renewal limit
- requested by someone else
- in high demand
You can renew items in several ways:
- Via out chat service on the library’s home page and please include your name and student number
- Via email at

- Via phone: Ring us on (03) 9606 2237 during opening hours
- Online for students via My Account link (Enter your student number and date of birth: DDMMYYYY)
Reserving your items
If you wish to borrow an item which is currently out on loan, you are able to reserve the item by placing a hold. When it is available, you will be notified by your student email to collect the item, which will be held for three days at the library.
To place a hold, log into your personal Library account, search the item on the catalogue and select hold.
Click on the My Account link to place your hold online
Enter your login details and click on the Log In button.
Returning your items
Items can be returned in two places:
- During opening times, in the Library, via the return chute to the right of the entrance near the inquiry desk
- After hours, via the outside return chute on the ground floor next to the elevator in Building B
William Angliss Staff and students can borrow material from another university or TAFE library as part of the CAVAL Reciprocal Borrowing Program.
What do I need to do?
You must first register in the Reciprocal Borrowing Program by:
- Registering at any CAVAL participating university or TAFE library when you go there or
- Seeing staff at the Library Service Desk for a CAVAL Card.
To enrol at another library, you need to:
- Present to that library with proof of your current enrolment: Staff/student photo ID card and proof of your contact details.
- Demonstrate your ability to log into your institution's student portal.
You may borrow from any participating university or TAFE library.
Your CAVAL membership
- CAVAL registration is FREE
- The membership expiry date is 28th February, the year following the card's issue, regardless of when you join throughout the year.
For example: CAVAL card registered 20/01/2023 - Expiry date would be 28th February 2024
- You can renew membership at the discretion of the host library.
Returning, Overdues and fines
You must return items to the library you borrowed from and comply with the lending policies, including fines of the host library(ies)
If you incur fines and are suspended by the host library, those fines and any penalties will apply to the WAI Library.
