Reserve Room

The Reserve Room collection consists of high demand resources.

The aim of this collection is to allow equal access to these resources. Teachers can also place special course notes, test questions or recommended readings for students to access in this collection.
Students and staff can only borrow up to two items from this collection for use within the LRC.

Search for them on the Library Catalogue  under Title, Author, Call Number or location: Reserve Room

The Reserve Room collection is now available within the general collection. This collection is made up of high demand items and are available to borrow for a (3) day loan.

Select the link to browse an A-Z title listing of these items. This electronic list will be phased out in 2019, therefore to find these items you will be required to search the LRC catalogue.

EBSCO’s eBook Community College Collection 

A multidisciplinary collection of more than 52,000 eBook titles, spanning a range of topics from Art, Cooking and  Education to Health and Fitness, Philosophy and the Social Sciences.

To access collection please use LRC search field (LRC front page).

 

 

What are they about?

     Proquest eBooks:

The LRC houses over 4000 Proquest eBook titles, primarily in the areas of hospitality, tourism, events and food science, all of which can be read online for 10 minutes, or requested for loan

 

     Knovel  eBooks:

Approximately 280 titles, primarily on food science are available for reading or downloading

 

     Bloomsbury Food Library:

Over 100 e-books related to foods, covering pre-historic times to the present day, including Food Cultures of the World and The Cambridge World History of Food. Also includes collections of images and audio podcasts.

 

Borrowing an eBook

Proquest eBooks:

You can either choose to Read Online or Download a title
With Read Online, you get a free browse time of 10 minutes, after which you will  be prompted to either create a loan or return to the catalogue.
With Downloading a title that the LRC owns, you need to have Adobe Digital Editions installed. This software is installed on all LRC student computers but you will need it on your own PC or with the Bluefire app on your mobile devices you can then download and read the e-book offline.

With Downloading a title that the LRC does not own, a request for a 1 day and 7 day only loan is generated and will be subject to LRC approval.

ProQuest Training Videos online: eBook Central Downloads

 

     Knovel  eBooks:

You can either choose to Read Online or Download a title that the LRC owns.
With Read a Knovel title online, you need to have Adobe Reader software (installed on all LRC computers) or equivalent pdf viewer to read the title.

     Bloomsbury Food Library:

There are no restrictions to reading material online.
The Bloomsbury Food Library interface is device-responsive, so will accommodate reading on a PC as well as mobile devices.Titles can be saved for viewing later by creating your own personal account.

If you wish to borrow an item which is currently out on loan, you are able to
reserve the item by placing a
hold   Once the hold has been placed
you will be notified by your student email when the item is available for
pick up (note: the item will only be held for 3 days at the LRC service
desk).
