NEW Wireless Network Access
BYOD (Bring-Your-Own-Device)
Students are now able to connect to the WAI-BYOD wireless network by using their WAI login details.
Simply connect to WAI-BYOD and enter your username “myangliss\student id”, then enter your password.

Students will have a download limit of 500Mbytes (per day) at high speed, to ensure everyone gets a fair go.
PCs
The LRC provides 89 PCs for students.
Windows PCs have the following software as standard.

• Camtasia (Media Pod ONLY)
• Endnote X7 X8 (for Higher Education students only) - EndNote is pre-installed on William Angliss Institute computers in the LRC, A345, D209 and C213; so you need not download/install the EndNote software. If you want EndNote on your personal computers (PC/MAC) please navigate to MyWAI > MYLINKS > My HigherEd Software.
Laptops available for student loan from the LRC
The LRC has seven laptops, equipped with audio/visual capability, available for students to borrow for the day on campus ONLY.
Laptops cannot be booked. They come with a charger and cables and must be returned by the student on the same day they are borrowed.
In addition, a webcam is available for student use in the LRC, as well as single person use of the media pod and its high-end A/V enabled PC.
Media Pod
Media pod computer uses Windows 10 and also includes Adobe suite and for audio-visual recording Audacity and Camtasia.
Note: All computers automatically shutdown 5 minutes before closing time and printers are switched 10 minutes beforehand.
To ensure all students have fair access to the computers, the LRC manages students' usage with the MyPC booking system. MyPC is available via the student desktop and the LRC homepage. MyPC is currently available on campus only

VDI and Standalone PCs
The LRC has a mix of Virtual Desktop computers (VDI) and bookable standalone PCs.
VDI
The LRC has 89 VDIs. A VDI computer delivers desktop virtualization, meaning the desktop operating system (OS), e.g. Microsoft Windows, runs and is managed by IT. The desktop image you see is delivered over the Institute network as though it were running locally on a hard drive.
Almost all VDIs have a white external device attached to them which can be used to plug in headphones or a USB.
Remember to constantly save your work as after 30 minutes of non-activity the computer will shutdown
Standalone PCs
Standalone PCs are located:
You can walk up and use a standalone PC for two hours or book it ahead of time with the MyPC booking system. VDIs are not connected to MyPC and therefore cannot be booked in advance.

Go to MyWAI, the William Angliss Student Portal ( http://mywai.angliss.edu.au ) and login with your usual William Angliss login details.
You will be offered a selection of subjects. Select the online subject you want to get access into. Note: Subjects are organized by alphabetical order

WAI students and staff
Your William Angliss student or staff card gives you access to photocopying and printing facilities.
Visitors and CAVAL users
You will need to add value to a rechargeable card which can be borrowed from the LRC enquiry desk.
Adding value to your card
The LRC has a vending machine to allow students to add money to their student cards to pay for printing, photocopy, pay library fines and purchase stationery items. The machine accepts notes, all coins (excluding 5 cent pieces) and eftpos. Please note: the machine will not give change and there are no refunds for any unused credit, so please ensure you have used all money on cards before you finish your course.
NOTE:
Any value left on your student card will be deleted 6 months after your enrolment ends.
Location of student printers (MFDs) and Print Kiosk
The LRC has 3 Multi- Functional devices (MFDs), all of which will print in colour or black and white.
All MFDs can print, photocopy, scan documents to email, double side print, staple & hole punch documents.
You can scan and save PDFs directly to a USB; or print TIFF, JPEG or PDFs from a USB . A student card with monied value on it is still required to print.

Whilst bookings are not compulsory, students with valid bookings will have priority. Students without bookings will have to vacate rooms upon the request from someone who has booked a room.
Remember that study rooms are not soundproof. Please be considerate of your fellow students.
Access to the Learning Resource Centre's electronic databases is available on or off campus via the LRC homepage.
Access is available by clicking the Databases link under Find Information on the menu bar.
After you have selected the appropriate database you will receive a remote pop up box asking for your username and password (offsite ONLY)

Your login name is your student number as printed on your student ID card and the password is your unique password, e.g.
Student number /Username e.g. 20000000
e.g. HIL03056303
Password is your network password e.g. 050ME981
Note: The username on your student ID card may consist of numbers only, or it may include the first three letters of your family name together with 8 numbers.
Access is via your WAI computer network login details. After you have typed in your username and password you will be able to search across any database platform. You will only
need to authenticate once during your session.
The student network can be accessed from 100 PCs in the LRC.
