Staff lending and training room

LRC Training Room:

The LRC training room, located behind the enquiry desk, has 13 PCs and a teacher/trainer projector Standard student software (e.g. Microsoft Office) is loaded onto these computers.

 

  There is no printing available from the training room.   

 

The training room is suitable for up to 13 students, plus a teacher/trainer. Preference will be given to LRC staffing sessions for students.
However, the room can be booked for Institute staff at the LRC front desk.


Teacher Reference Videos:

Teacher reference videos are located on a display unit in the front corner of the LRC near the digital sign. Teacher reference material is identified by a TR code in front of the Call Number. Material can be borrowed by teachers for 1 day.


Projectors:

 4 Hitachi projectors are available and each is available for a one day loan. These can be booked for up to one week ahead. Care should be taken with the projectors as the bulbs are
especially fragile and expensive to replace..


Laptops:

3 Lenono ThinkPad laptops are available for a one week loan. Laptops are loaded with Windows 7, Outlook, Office 2010, Lync 2010 & IE10.

 

Copyright Services

Inter-library loans & Document delivery

If you are a current William Angliss Institute staff member or Masters student we can locate items for you that are not held by the LRC.
Our ILL service will attempt to locate and supply items from another library for you.


Please check LRC catalogue prior to submitting request.

 

Please note:
•    All requests must be related to your teaching, employment and/or research.
•    Some charges may apply for non-standard services or delivery, for example rush requests, theses and overseas items. These charges are met by the requester.

How you are notified:
Upon the LRC's receipt of the item, you will receive an email advising you to collect your request



Collecting Your Request:
Items obtained from another library, such as books, DVDs and A/V material, may be collected from LRC during normal opening hours. With copy requests, where possible, copies of book chapters and journal articles will be delivered electronically to your email address as a pdf scanned attachment. In some cases, print copies will be posted to you via internal mail due to copyright or licensing restrictions preventing electronic delivery.

 

E-Readings

Currently all subject reading material for Higher Education (both from LRC subscribed databases/journals and material available under the educational copyright licence) is accessible via MyWAI. These resources need to be copyright compliant as a mandatory requirement of the Copyright Agency Limited (CAL) licence.

LRC staff can scan your required book chapters/articles and ensure that the appropriate Part IVA Division 4 copyright notice is attached

Suggest a book or other resource to buy

The LRC welcomes suggestions for purchase of resources from staff and students of the Institute.

All requests are evaluated according to, and comply with, the Collection Development Policy of the William Angliss LRC.

Tours & classes information

 

The LRC offers staff and students training in the following areas:


•    LRC Orientation tour plus an overview of the LRC catalogue and homepage
•    Effective internet searching and introduction to the LRC’s electronic databases
•    Research skills
•    TurnItIn, Plagiarism and Endnote
•    Referencing skills


Classes are conducted either in the LRC training room or in your classrooms. Bookings for training sessions are essential.

Learning Advisors provide a free service to assist all students to develop the skills they need to be successful in their course

LRC services for people with disabilities

WAI Learning Resource Centre aims to provide service which ensures equal access and educational opportunities for students with disabilities. To be eligible for the service, you need to register with the Disability Liaison Officer. Once this happens, you can make a booking with the LRC disability liaison coordinator.

LRC staff will assist you with:

• Checking the library catalogue
• Searching databases, electronic journals or web browsing
• Retrieving items from the shelves
• Making photocopies, printing documents, use of scanner
• Borrowing, reserving LRC items

• Lifts – lift for the disabled in Angliss Restaurant, lower floor, Building E
